Counseling and Homesteading
Life is not all sunshine and roses.
But, if you want to play in the sunshine and learn to stop to smell the roses, let’s see if I can help.
I began homesteading to help with my own mental health. I thought I would share some ways homesteading can be used to help with your mental health.
When it comes to homesteading, you may think of a farm. I was homesteading many years before I had a farm. It’s really just a way of living.
When using homesteading as therapy, it’s a holistic approach. This approach engages your mind, body, and spirit while connecting you with nature. Nature has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Nature can be used to encourage mindfulness and tranquility. Homesteading has its challenges. However, these challenges can teach you how to adapt, problem-solve, goal set, and learn new skills. This will help you learn resilience and coping strategies. Homesteading can help with depression by offering you a sense of purpose and satisfaction. By creating goals and accomplishing them, you will notice a boost in your self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. Additionally, you can journal your homesteading experiences. This process can promote self-reflection and growth.
